Helping kids navigate the online world: Welcome to Youville

Are you a parent, educator or youth group leader?  Do you have youngsters in your life ages 8-12 that spend time online? The Federal Trade Commission offers resources that can help teach young people about:

  • Privacy
  • Online safety
  • Understanding advertising
  • Spotting scams
  • Digital citizenship

Check out Youville!

Find the details on the FTC site HERE or watch this short YouTube video HERE.

These tools are free!  Through twelve lessons our youth can learn things like:

  • What information is personal
  • What to do if someone uses bullying language online
  • How to understand the advertising techniques that target them
  • How to spot free offers that aren’t really free

If you won’t benefit from these creative tools, maybe you know someone who will.  Share!

Youville has free lesson plans, slides, activity sheets, posters and bookmarks. And each lesson stands alone so you (or someone you know) can pick and choose topics and activities that work best for the group.

As a Personal Financial Coach, I know the need for our young folks to understand how to protect their personal information and be aware of scams that could really be damaging.

And although my focus is primarily on financial coaching, my 40+ years in the financial industry makes me very aware of all of the ways we need to protect our privacy, finances and online activities.
